FM systems use an FM radio signal to transmit the speech you want to hear directly to your hearing aids while minimizing interfering background noises. They are portable and compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand, and can be paired with cellular phones, televisions, public address systems, iPods and other audio devices. In fact, any product that has an audio output port can be easily plugged into an FM system.
At a restaurant or meeting, the FM transmitter is placed in the middle of a table to allow the listener to take an active part in ongoing discussions. These units employ a very advanced three-stage multi-microphone array technology that zooms into and separates speech from background noises. The result is excellent understanding of speech in the most demanding listening conditions.
I have tested several personal FM devices to determine which are most effective for different hearing situations. When you visit our office, we will work together to determine the most appropriate system for you.
